A recent Wakefield Mother’s Day study for Western Union made the front page – in the form of a USA Today Snapshot.  The poll found that most agree that if their mom was given cash for Mother’s Day, they probably wouldn’t cash in on a traditional Mother’s Day gift; mom doesn’t want a manicure when there are bills to pay.

Nearly 2 in 5 (38%) believe if they gave their mother cash to let her get her own gift, she would pay off a bill or save it, and not spend it on new clothes (14%), a night out (9%) or a trip to the salon (7%). Only 5% think if their mother received cash for their mother’s day, she would use it to buy flowers.

It’s not too late to change your gifting plans. Consider what mom really needs, but letting her know you love her is really what matters the most.
