‘Travelscrimping’ Draws Headlines as Cracker Barrel Cracks Down

Companies issuing edicts to rein in spending on trips now have a name for that: “travelscrimping.” The trend reached new heights this month when restaurant chain Cracker Barrel requested that their employees who travel for work eat solely at locations owned by the company. According to Today, one of the outlets that reported on the memo, the term originated in SAP Concur’s 2025 Global Business Travel Survey, which was based on data collected by Wakefield Research. The timely term might catch on, at least until companies decide they’re in a position to engage in travelsplurging.
