While more New Jersey seniors enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan compared to last year, a poll conducted by Clover Health reveals they lag behind their peers nationally.

Twenty-three percent of New Jersey seniors are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, compared to 34 percent nationwide, according to data from the poll.

As of September, 1,659,113 adults in New Jersey were eligible for Medicare — a 5 percent increase in that population since September 2017.

Clover Health polled adults 60 and older in the Garden State to determine the reasons why 77 percent are not enrolled in Medicare Advantage. Many said they were simply unfamiliar with Medicare Advantage or did not want to change doctors.
