Weak passwords have always been a major vulnerability in the security world. The solution has typically been to make people jump through elaborate hoops to create less-hackable passwords or to rely on software or other tools that handle password creation or provide more secure logins.

In a recent article, the cybersecurity website Dark Reading asked companies how they’re dealing with ongoing password vulnerabilities. The article included a CISO report from Wakefield Research conducted for Portnox citing 92% of security executives implementing passwordless authentication at their companies. That has increased significantly from 70% who said they were doing so in 2024.

The survey included 200 U.S. Chief Information Security Officers at companies with a minimum revenue of $500 million.
