A survey conducted last fall by Wakefield Research for HomeGoods is still generating buzz among popular news sources in the worlds of entertainment, home and garden, and beyond.

The study made waves in December after it was covered by Reuters and republished shortly afterwards by ABC News.  Sources from Entertainment Weekly to iVillage got readers thinking about their holiday decoration plans by sharing results from the survey, including the ever-popular finding that Michelle Obama is America’s first choice for a celebrity home decorator.

A month later, the study is still being picked up by a wide variety of sources, from USA Today’s Snapshots to smaller, home décor-focused magazines and websites.

The home and garden site CasaSugar recently conducted its own poll about redecorating to see how readers’ habits compare to those of the participants in Wakefield’s survey.

It’s a textbook example for how to use a PR omnibus to drive coverage with top-tier mass media, and highly targeted niche outlets.
