Gold Medalist Allyson Felix Joins Theraflu’s Campaign for Paid Sick Leave

The most decorated U.S. track and field Olympic athlete in history says that the struggle mothers face recovering from illness while parenting is harder than the physical recovery athletes face. Allyson Felix, who has won 11 Olympic medals, told Motherly in a recent article that this struggle is a reason she joined Theraflu for its Right to Rest & Recovery Initiative, which advocates for paid sick leave. The article cites data from Wakefield Research for a Theraflu custom survey of 1,000 U.S. caregivers that found 80 percent of them can’t take a sick day even when they need one. Theraflu started a Rest & Recovery fund in 2021 with microgrants to offset the cost of lost work time for those who don’t have paid sick leave.
