Entry Level Jobs Aren’t Being Killed By AI, They’re Getting an Upgrade

According to a Wakefield Research survey conducted on behalf of Cognizant and Pearson, the death of entry level jobs from AI has been greatly exaggerated. The findings, including that 96% of HR leaders expect entry level roles to involve supervision or management of AI systems within the next five years, were featured in Inc.  

The research also found that 94% of participants predicted those jobs won’t resemble any that existed before the automating tech began to spread. In fact the huge majority (95%) found that middle managers are the most critical factor in making AI adoption work, which is the very same layer that many companies are cutting right now.

“Tracking changes in the workforce through the transition to an AI-enabled workplace is something that data-driven research is optimally designed to do,” said Nathan Richter, Partner at Wakefield Research. “We see over and over again how data challenges prevailing assumptions.”
