Go ahead, Mr. President, take a vacation. We need one, too.

Nearly half of Americans say President Barack Obama is the presidential candidate most in need of a relaxing vacation this summer, according to a new survey done by Wakefield Research on behalf of Princess Cruises. Only 20% think Gov. Mitt Romney needs it more.

But here’s the interesting part: By summer’s end, 36% of us regular Americans say we also will need a vacation — from the never-ending presidential campaign.

The 2012 Relaxation Report surveyed 1,000 adults ages 18 and older between June 28-July 5. It also found:

  • About 60% of Baby Boomers (ages 48-66) took all their vacation time last year, but less than half of Millenials (ages 18-31) did.
  • 85% of Millenials make social media updates while on vacation. Fewer than half of Boomers do.
  • 64% of parents have taken a vacation without their children, and 46% of them feel guilty about it – moms more than dads.
