With spring comes the blooming of flowers, trees and all sorts of allergens that can irritate and annoy, especially at the Macy’s Flower Show. Whether its itching, watery eyes, stuffed nose, or coughing, all can take a toll on the look you so carefully crafted. According to a recent survey, 66% of women with allergies have felt ugly or unattractive because of their Allergy Face. Last week we got to chat with beauty expert Rebekah George to nab a few tips on how to avoid allergy affliction this season with help from Zyrtec.
Go Easy on the Eyes – If watery eyes are high on your symptom list, you can focus on boosting your brows by shaping and penciling spots where necessary and leave the rest of the eye bare. Skip the waterproof makeup as you might just rub it off if your eyes become itchy.
Get the Red Out – Sniffles and stuffiness can go hand-in-hand with the season, but a red nose is strictly reserved for the winter months. To draw attention away from your nose, add a little illuminating powder or liquid highlighter to the tops of the cheeks to draw eyes to the outer part of the cheek.
Less Is More – Those trying to cover up their allergy face can pack on the makeup and add extra time to their beauty routine. George recommends dampening your makeup brushes to apply products for a more natural look for foundation and a more dramatic look for more pigmented products.
Lighten the Load – Spring cleaning doesn’t apply to just your house or closet – your makeup bag deserves the same treatment, especially since older products can further allergy irritation. Use George’s one-two-three rule: keep no blush more than a year, mascara for two months, check lipsticks for discoloration every three months.
