A Majority of Girls (Ages 5-13 Years Old) Have Experienced Loneliness

Girl Scouts of the USA and Wakefield Research have been featured in video segment by USA Today. The custom PR survey data reveals that as girls age their loneliness increases while their confidence decreases. Unfortunately, it’s not something girls grow out of as they age. In fact, the feeling of loneliness spans girlhood: 64 percent of 5- to 7-year-olds reported feeling lonely, followed by 67 percent of 8- to 10-year-olds and 73 percent of 11- to 13-year-olds. While this is disheartening, all is not lost. Girls can foster meaningful connections with their parents, classmates and members of their community.
